Some 70 fragments of scores exist, including long inscriptions on stone. The metres of Greek represent rhythms, and auloi (double pipes) found by archaeologists have been reconstructed and played. Armand D’Angour, Professor of Classics at Oxford University, will explain how by bringing the strands of evidence together we might hear the sounds of ancient music.
