The National Library of Norway holds the largest collection of Norwegian music in the country.
The collection consists of sound recordings, printed music, music manuscripts, books, periodicals, documentation, and archives originating from individuals and organizations. It also includes a substantial catalogue of printed music and reference works from other countries. The National Library houses national archives of folk music, popular and traditional song, jazz and popular music, as well as a publishing service for Norwegian contemporary music.
The collection is available to the public by visiting the library at Henrik Ibsens gate 110 in Oslo, but the materials must be ordered ahead of time. We also provide inter-library loan services. Items that are not available for loan may be used at listening stations and in reading rooms on the premises. Listening stations may be booked in advance, and it is also possible to order digital copies from the audio archive in Rana.
