Bibliography
On the bibliography
Purpose and background
The bibliography aims to cover Norwegian literature abroad, primarily translations, in the period from 1900 to 1950. The bibliography is compiled as part of the research project ‘Made Abroad: Producing Norwegian World Literature in a Time of Rupture, 1900-1950’ at the National Library, led by Aina Nøding (2023-27). The bibliography was initiated in 2023 and will be compiled during the project period. Ellen Nessheim Wiger heads the bibliography project. Project participants and staff at the National Library contribute with new and/or updated metadata for editions to the National Library’s catalogues and bibliographies.
Scope and limitation
The bibliography is intended to cover all works by Norwegian authors of fiction that have been published abroad and/or primarily for a foreign audience. Non-fiction works are included only to the extent that they are part of an author’s primarily fiction-oriented body of work or if automatically generated extracts from the national bibliography have also included non-fiction. All editions and printings are comprised, including those published in anthologies, periodicals, newspapers, or other media.
The bibliography does not cover texts about Norwegian authors or works abroad.
By ‘Norwegian,’ we mean authors born in Norway and/or residing in Norway at the time of publication.
