About the library | In September 1959 the first bookboat "Abdulla" went into service. Since 1963 Epos has been the bookboat on the Westcoast of Norway. The bookboat Epos is a joint service between the three county libraries of Møre og Romsdal, Sogn og Fjordane and Hordaland on the western coast of Norway. From the month of September to April it visits more than 250 small communities on islands and deep into the fjords of Norway. Epos is about 80 feet long and carries 6.000 books. Manning the boat is the captain and one able seaman/cook. Other crew are two or three librarians and one or two entertainers. Each county library have their own collection of books which are moved on and off the boat after each trip in each county. | ||
